Off-site Backup

Probably the most important, and most easily overlooked maintenance program for your website is off-site backup. Off-site backup ensures a complete copy of your site is stored securely, away from your web host. While some companies will backup their sites locally, off-site backup ensures your site can be easily reinstalled to the last backup time, even if your host has hardware issues. Using my service to keep a backup of your site is an automated program, which ensures the backup is done. Surveys have found that although many companies feel that site backup is important, very few do it on a regular basis.

Updates

The site maintenance packages now include Core and Version updates:

• Joomla as well as Joomla Extensions have a Core group of programs. These Core programs are updated as bugs and security vulnerabilities are identified and fixed. As an example, the current Joomla Version is 1.5 and the current updates are 14 (as of this writing). So the most current version of Joomla is J1.5.14 and includes all bug fixes and security patches identified and fixed to date.
• The Version of Joomla and Joomla extensions indicates a major programming update, that can affect the core data as well as the core programs in a site. Joomla as an example has gone through 2 major versions J1.0 to J1.5. This update affected all the core programs, all extensions that work with Joomla and the site data structure that holds all user and content data of the site. Conversion of a Joomla 1.0 to 1.5 site essentially required a complete rebuilding of each site. Typically, Version changes improve the site operation, security and extensibility.

Site Re-install

Probably the next most important function offered in my site maintenance packages is a site re-install. If your site crashes, for any reason: hacker attacks; hardware failure; spoofing attacks, etc. you can rest easily, knowing that I maintain a hard copy of your site and will reinstall it for you, on your original servers, or a server of your choice. This can include moving your site to a different hosting company.

Email Support

I’m here for you, and when I’m not, I make sure I have someone covering for me who is equally knowledgeable. I respond to most emails within 6 hours or less, and provide detailed explanation to help solve your problems. There is extensive help built into the site, which can immediately help answer most questions. I am also available via MSN messenger, for quick help.

Uploading & Downloading

Your service contract extends the size of the files that you can upload, download and store on our server. (Basic site hosting includes files up to 500 KB in size.) If you use a repository extension and want to provide documents, files, pictures, etc. that you or your site members upload and download through your site, review the different plans for the one that will best suites your needs.
